«I like this girl thank you!»
Racial tension in south Tel Aviv is not a new phenomenon, generally taking the form of xenophobic marches, protests and anti-refugee demonstrations. Although the number of protests and participants seems to have diminished, there is a new, developing trend. As of late, there appears to be an increase of smaller, more individualistic attacks against refugees in the south of the city. As the research I have been working on focuses on the issues of crime in south Tel Aviv, I believe it is safe to say that these incidents are increasing in frequency.

White Night in Tel Aviv: 'Jewish girls don't go with blacks' | + Magazine
T he short flight from Tel Aviv to the Cypriot port of Larnaca is regularly packed with an assortment of loved-up couples, often partners from different religious traditions, for whom there is no provision to marry back home. It all goes back to the Hebrew scriptures and the anxiety that foreigners presented an existential threat to the Jewish people. And crossing the line into overt racism, there are now extreme Jewish nationalists who picket weddings between Jews and Arabs. Thankfully, no one was doing that at my wonderful wedding in Tel Aviv earlier this week, despite the fact that I — a foreigner and a Christian priest to boot — was marrying a daughter of Israel. OK, the legal bit had been done back in London , but the heavens did not issue any thunderbolts or display any demonstrative signs of disapproval.

Israel Rejects Citizenship Bid of African-American Convert Married to Israeli Woman
In the Torah, God promises Abraham more children than there are stars in the sky and grains of sand in the sea. But those children do tend to congregate — New York has the highest Jewish population of any city in the world other than Tel Aviv — higher, even, than Jerusalem. Some of us are stars, and some of us are just beach dirt, and never is that more evident than when dating.
It is completely normal for a woman to just hand over her number out of the blue, or for a man to join a conversation between two girls to ask if you want to go for coffee. Keep in mind, they will also find it very easy to break up with you the moment they feel like it, without much explaining or preparing. It is absolutely okay to go out on a date with a pair of jeans and sneakers and for a girl to not put heavy make up on. Tel Avivians love the clean, naturally-pretty look and adopt a pretty laid back dress code. Israeli men and women are flirty, particularly in Tel Aviv.
